Pride of Place Runners Up 2012

Clondalkin Tidytowns were awarded runners up in category 5 (population over 2,000) in this years Pride of Place competition held in Thomand Park, Limerick on Saturday 4th November. The group was represented by Marie Kearney, Kathleen Gill and myself and we were joined by Maire Ní Dhomhnaill from SDCC in collecting the award. We were also given a cheque for €500. This is a massive achievement for everyone in Clondalkin and is something we will be proud of for many years. We met one of the judges who said that he was amazed by the amount of work done by the group in such a short space of time.

We set out on a campaign to rid the streets and green areas of Clondalkin Village of the ghastly site of litter in March. Through our work and hard effort, we have united many different communities and cultures and we have helped to give people something to be proud of once again.

On behalf of the committee and the entire group of dedicated and proud volunteers, we would like to thank everyone for their help and support! Please share our wonderful news and keep an eye out in the village for the award we won tonight.

Tidy Towns 2012 Results

The 2012 TidyTowns results are finally here!!

We are delighted to announce that in our 1st year we scored a total of 202marks out of a total 400marks. The adjudicators were very please with our entry and commended us on our work so far in such a short space of time. They described Clondalkin as a 'lovely town' with 'many attractive buildings and park'. The newly moved Clondalkin welcome stone at the top of Boot Road was 'very much admired by the adjudicator'.

I would like to congratulate everyone who has helped us and to all the businesses who have sponsored us to date. Without your help and financial assistance we simple would not be able to even consider entering the competition.

Clondalkin Tidytowns will be hosting a celebration night on the 27th September at 8.30pm in Round Towers GAA club where we will be joined by the South Dublin County Mayor who be awarding prizes for our Clondalkin Summer Competition.

On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank you all and we are aiming for an even better result next year.

Pride of Place 2012 nomination

Clondalkin gave a very warm welcome to the Pride of Place judges last week. During a three hour presentation, the TidyTowns committee and group outlined the reasons we believe we have been so successful in such a short space of time.

We had a short photographic video courtesy of Tommy Keogh, with beautiful images of Clondalkin accompanied by a lovely piece of music. We then had a 30minute powerpoint presentation with brief information and history of Clondalkin, information about the group, our aims and objectives, the work we have carried out so far, the people who have helped us, how we have planned and financed our work and our plans for the future.
