Christmas 2014 - Please Think Green


Every year each household generates an estimated 55 kilograms of packaging per household.  There is a lot of extra packaging waste over the Christmas period.  So this Christmas why not try to reduce and recycle your festive packaging.


Materials can be recycled at the following locations

•Ballymount Civic Amenity Centre

•Bring banks South Dublin County Council has 63 banks around the County

•Batteries recycling

•WEEE recycling: Clondalkin Community Recycling Initiative


The opening hours for the Ballymount Civic Amenity Centre is as follows:-

December 24th  9.30 – 15.00 
December 25th & 26th  Closed 
December 27th  9.00 – 17.30 
December 28th 29th & 30th  9.30 – 17.00 
December 31st  9.30 – 15.00 
January 1st  Closed 
January 2nd  Normal opening hours 


To encourage everyone to consider the effective use of resources and take an active part in re-using and up-cycling South Dublin County Council has arranged a Christmas Decoration competition for all ages, Closing Date is 10th  December 2014 – for application click link.


From Tuesday 6th January to Friday 16th January 2015, there will be a  Christmas Tree Collection site in your the Clondalkin Area. This facility is for domestic household trees only and not for commercial operators.  One tree will be accepted per household/per vehicle. Signage will be placed at the various locations indicating that it is an official recycling point. 

New Committee elected at AGM 2014

A great night was had at the 2014 Annual General Meeting in the Green Isle Hotel where a new committee was elected for the 2014-2015 competition year.

National Heritage Week

Clondalkin takes part in this years National Heritage Week

National Heritage Week is coordinated by The Heritage Council and its aim is to build awareness and education about our heritage thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation.

Each year, during the last week of August, many national and hundreds of local community organisations participate by organising events throughout the country. Many of the events that take place during the week are free and the programme highlights the abundance of great work that is carried out in all communities in Ireland to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage.


National Volunteering Week 12th - 18th May

This is National Volunteering Week, a week when everyone in Ireland is encouraged to give volunteering a try. Here's your volunteering opportunity. Next Saturday morning (17th May) Clondalkin Tidy Towns with a number of local groups; agencies and  businesses will be working in the following areas:


St. Josephs 6th Class visit Mount St. Josephs Graveyard

The pupils of 6th class in St. Josephs together with their teacher Paul and assistants Marie and Ann revisited Mount St.Josephs Graveyard on Monastery Road last Friday and planted daffodils in the graveyard.
