Update on Tree Planting April 2013

A total of 24 trees will be planted in the village over the next few weeks.

12 x Quescus 'Koster' (Oak) will be planted in the footpath outside Tuthills car park and outside Clondalkin Credit Union. A total of 10 x Carpinus Betulus 'Fastigia' (Hornbeam) will be planted on Ninth Lock Road - 4 opposite the Texaco petrol station on the Dunnes Stores wall side, 4 outside the Social Welfare offices and another 2 close to Old Nangor Road (to be confirmed). Another two trees will planted on Tower Road to replace the Betulus Pendula (Birch) that have been cut down due to illness.

The trees will be planted and edged with granite sietts and finished with bound gravel. SAP Landscapes have been appointed as lead contractor and work is due to commence shortly with tril holes dug to assess the sites for depth and services.

Clondalkin Tidy Towns will be paying a large portion of the overall costs of the tree planting project with the remainder coming from a 'Villiage Innitiative Fund' grant and from South Dublin County Council. Fund raising continues and we would appeal to everyone to support us in any way you can. If you would like to sponsor a tree please contact us by email or by speaking to any of the committee.
